Instructions on the submissio= n of case presentations for ACTA Echo 2008 meeting. Deadline for submissions 31st March 2008

Two video files together with an abstract shou= ld be e-mailed to Nick Fletcher at the address below. The best submissions w= ill be selected for presentation in at ACTA Echo 2008 and will be published on the ACTA website following the meeting. Criteria used will be: perioperative setting; clinical relevance; image qu= ality; originality and overall interest. A prize will be offered for the best presentation on the day.

Presentations shoul= d be submitted by email. The abstract should be submitted as a MS Word for Win= dows attachment. Two video files which constitute the focus of the case and wh= ich will be the ones published to the web should also be attached and submitt= ed as AVI files. As well as the single page abstract, an accompanying le= tter should be send on paper by post to the meeting secretary Dr Nick Fletcher= . The cases selected to be presented will have two of the video files displayed= on the ACTA website together with relevant text. None will appear on the web= , be presented at the meeting or be published before the completed accompanying letter is received.

Formatting:

The complete abstract should not exceed one page
Margins: Top 3 cm, Bottom 4.7 cm, Left 6.5 cm, Right 6.5 cm
Page Size: A4 21 cm by 29.7 cm, Portrait
Font: Times New Roman 10 point throughout.

Abstract Instruc= tions

Title in bold se= ntence case with no full stop

Text in Times Roman with no heading serves at the introduction. The title is bold with no full stop. There is then a space of 1 line followed by the Authors. They are Initial Stop Space Surname Comma and superscript 1 or higher if there are more than one department. There is an and before the last author no full stop after the last author surn= ame. The line immediately below gives the department address in italics.<= /o:p>

Description of Case

This should be clear, concis= e and follow a logical sequence. No information should be included that could identify the individual concerned. A clear numbered reference to the video files should be inserted at the relevant place eg (video 1). It is suggested a statement of relevance to clinical practise should be made in conclusion.

Video Files=

The file attachments must be clearly labelled and correspond to the appropriate reference eg (v= ideo 1) in the abstract. The images should be saved as AV= Is and transmitted in as large a format as possible. If the submitter experiences any technical difficulty please contact Dr Fletcher as soon a= s possible.

 

Accompanying Let= ter:

An accompanying let= ter, signed by all the authors, should state

  • That you wish to presen= t the case
  • Any ethics consideratio= ns have been considered
  • This case has not been published prior to presentation  
  • If you do not wi= sh your case to be displayed on the ACTA website
  • The address, email, tel= ephone and fax of the corresponding author

Web Publication<= /span>:

At least one author= who is a full member of ACTA should be present during the presentation. Where none of the authors is a full member of ACTA, the abstract should be accompanied by a letter from a sponsoring full member, stating that they = have read the abstract and seen the images and will be present during i= ts presentation.
